Snoopy Telephone, model number TSR 8014A EET 81/1, made by Plessey, British, 1982-1989. Dial telephone with a figure of Snoopy holding the telephone handset.
In November 1981, standardised telephone plugs and sockets were introduced in the UK. Prior to this, telephone systems were hard wired, requiring a GPO telephone-engineer to install, meaning that only GPO telephones could be used. This Snoopy Telephone is an example of the variety of telephones available after users became able to easily purchase their own telephones.
