Leather belt type C I R No 8, inscribed inside AGUADO/MARIBLANCA/MARIANO 22nd CTA 2nd BON with axe pouch attached. Label reads: The Camro, reg design 819734'.

This simple leather belt belonged to a fire fighter. Nothing is known about the owner despite their personalisation. The attached ‘cameo axe pouch’ was used to hang fire axes, suggesting this was belt used in everyday service. A modern fireman’s belt needs to be durable and heat resistant to allow a variety of tasks to be safely undertaken, but it is unclear how much protection this belt would provide.
