ATCO Lawnmower of C 1925 with rake on the drive and plate clutch; first in the Cope collection, inspiring the youngest boy to become an engineer
The addition of a small petrol motor took much of the physical effort out of mowing a lawn. This ATCO mower is from a very large collection of lawn mowers brought together by an individual family. A selection was acquired by the Science Museum to illustrate a number of stories relating to the history of grass-cutting, including the technology, the social context and sporting associations.
