The AJAX Mark 5 was a manual lawnmower. It was the last of a succession of successful mowers of this Ransome design, and is from a very large collection of lawnmowers brought together by an individual family. A selection was acquired by the Science Museum to illustrate a number of stories relating to the history of grass-cutting, including the technology, the social context and sporting associations.
