Cartoon, by JAK (Raymond Allen Jackson, 1927 - 1997). Depicts the result of the staged crash of a train carrying a nuclear flask. Officials watch as an engineer tests the nuclear flask. The caption below reads "Well that seemed to have worked all right", yet the individual examining the flask is shown with two heads. Published in The Standard newspaper, Thursday, July 19th, 1984. It satirises Operation Smash Hit, a collision organised by British Rail and the Central Electricity Generating Board to demonstrate the safety of trains carrying nuclear material. Framed.
