Black Arrow R4 1972
This British Black Arrow R4 rocket would have launched the Miranda satellite in 1974. However, Black Arrow was cancelled, Miranda was launched by a US rocket and R4 was presented to the Science Museum.
Its predecessor, R3, made history on 28 October 1971 by being the first and, to date, only British rocket to launch a British satellite, which will continue to orbit Earth for the rest of this century.
