Form for Labour and delivery maternity patient from the Khunde Hospital, Nepal, c.2005.

A labour and delivery form given to maternity patients at the Kunde Hospital in Nepal. Local women are encouraged to give birth at the hospital, but many prefer to stay at home. The Sherpa people believe that their spirit’s onward journey will be impeded unless they die at home, so many are reluctant to stay in the hospital for extended periods.
