National TV-7M television receiver, 1948-1949.

The American company, National, was best known for manufacturing amateur communications receivers. The unique feature of their first TV was a large signal strength meter, giving customers the idea that they could 'fish' for additional 'distant' television signals, (particularly if purchasers already owned a good aerial). This set is part of the Donald Fleming Collection of North American television receivers.
