The Goldstein-Scheerer Object Sorting test is used to assess abstract thinking and how well concepts are formed. The patient is required to sort objects by colour or material, copy block patterns with coloured cubes. The tests are mainly used to diagnose neurological problems. The test was developed by German psychiatrist Kurt Goldstein (1878-1965) and the German psychologist Martin Scheerer (1900-61).
