
Pump-drill as used by the Zuni People
Pump-drill (length 22 1/2 ins). Long piece of wood with slightly pointed ends. One end has some string around the end, this end is also slightly darker than rest of the drill.. There is also another piece of string about 1/3 of the way along.

As used by the Zuni people of Mexico (This is not a Fire-drill, but an ordinary drill, provided with a drill-point of flint and intended for boring holes in wood or bone. The Pump Fire-drill is, however, exactly similar, except for the actual drill-point.) North America.
