Flint (a small piece of chalcedony, length 1 1/4 in), steel (O-shaped, thin, of native workmanship, broken at one end, length 3 5/8 ins), and tinder (? plant-down); the latter contained in a cylinder of thick iron (length 1 1/2 in), formed from the end of a gun-barrel (as the late Mr. F. C. Selous pointed out when looking through this Collection); its surface decorated by a rudely-engraved native pattern of bands and lozenges; made and used by a Zulu; collected at Buluwayo. South Africa.
