Fire-steel (length 3 5/8 ins) combined with ember-tongs; hinder arm of bronze, its edges ornamentally cut, its sides engraved "Ano" and "1798" and its lower end terminating in a pipe-stopper; latter serves also as a seal (engraved with an heraldic device between the letters "N. L."). [NB: one of thirty-three specimens (nos. 424-456), all Spanish, but combined with some other article or articles of frequent personal use (generally with ember-tongs, but often with knife-blade, cork-screw, pipe-prick, screw-driver, hammer, or other). Many possess considerable artistic merit]
