Smoker's Outfit (147 x 55 x 35 mm); exterior bronzed; contains modern clay pipe. ? Holland. [One of 3 items (nos. 669b-d) which are all Smoker's Outfits, intended for the pocket. Each is in form of a box of thin sheet metal, long rectangular in shape, consisting of three compartments designed to contain, respectively, a pipe, tobacco and a steel, and a flint, with a hinged lid to each (one at one side and one at each end). All are well made and probably of the early 19th Century, as two have affixed to them (but perhaps added later) strikers for matches.]
