Tinder-box (length 2 1/2 ins) of bamboo, in two portions, one fitting into the other; nodes form bottom and top; two portions held together by a string, which also secures a very small thin oval steel (length 2 ins), pierced at one end for attachment; contains flint (a small rough lump of chert); from Island of Nias, off Sumatra. East Indies.
