Tinder-box (length 4 ins) of bamboo, in two portions, one fitting into the other; nodes form bottom and top; two portions held together by a string, on which are threaded blue and yellow glass beads; each end strongly bound with plaited strips of rattan; contains flint (a very small rough lump of chert), steel (a short length, about 1 3/4 in, broken out of a sword-blade), and tinder (cotton threads, loosely twisted into a cord, dyed yellow, and contained in exceedingly small bamboo tube, diam about 1/4 in); at bottom, a string, threaded with blue and yellow beads securing a boar's tusk (length 3 ins) for ornament; exact locality not known; probably Sarawak. East Indies.
