chuckmuck (length 3 1/4 ins); three brass mounts, slightly engraved, on flap; two, one on each corner, represent conventionalized bats; one, in centre, a zoomorphic design, apparently two crossed fishes or some winged creature transfixed by an arrow; a largely-illegible inscription on back of steel may perhaps represent ch'ang yung (long-enduring).
