Tinder-pistol (length 8 1/2 ins) of iron, with carved wooden butt, having heavy brass mountings; socket for ramrod in front; short ramrod of bone, very small and tubular, still in position; a portion of tinder (amadou) still remains in the holder; probably early 18th century. Italy.
