Tinder-pistol (length 5 ins) of iron; hollow barrel-shaped handle unscrews, its interior being probably intended to hold sulphur-matches; compartment at side for reserve tinder; inscribed on side "Jean Descos"; probably early 18th century [external mechanism]. France or Flanders.
