Tinder-pistol (length 12 1/2 ins) of iron and of unusually-large size, with wooden butt, combined with a taper-holder; in front is a reel, placed horizontally, round which the wax-taper is coiled, its end being held upright for burning by a large spring-clip; tinder-compartment in side; probably 18th century. Sweden.
