Tinder-pistol (length 6 3/4 ins) of bright steel, with brass mountings, combined with ink-well, pounce-box, pen-cleaner, pen-rest, and candle-stick, the latter sliding up and down a tall upright shaft; the whole stands on four short feet; a landscape, with view of castle, etc., engraved on the upper plate, the incised lines showing signs of having been inlaid originally with gold; the date "Anno "1694" (apparently a later addition) engraved on bottom; probably late 17th or early 18th century. Italy.
