[One of] Two Instantaneous Light Boxes (length and height 1 7/8 in, breadth 1/2 in) of exactly-similar type, both by the same maker; both of tin, with lid and one side hinged at back, former closing with a snap-catch in front; exterior painted and grained in dark browns, with slight gilt lining, and the word "Feu" in gilt on top; inside painted green; three compartments; front compartment, for acid-bottle (missing), has a cork bottom; next, for matches (many of which remain); hindermost, for candle (missing), which stands in a small socket, on end of a hinged arm which opens out when side of box is open; matches of slender wax taper (length 1 3/8 in), with red heads. France. [Other similar light box - no 1265 not acquired].
