A Lighter in form of a cylindrical leather-covered brass box (length 2 7/8 ins); out of one end draws an inner five-sided cylinder, each side set with amorces, in a paper strip; out of one end of this draws a brass-headed sharp-pointed iron pin, round which is wrapped match-cord tinder; when an amorce is scratched with the pin, it ignites and sets the tinder alight. ? France.
