A Lighter (length 3 1/2 ins) of white-metal, nickelled; consists of a tube containing cotton match-cord tinder affixed to the side of another tube, containing a plunger actuated by a spiral spring and with a swivelled cap; a small compartment at bottom contains percussion-caps; when a cap is placed on a nipple on end of plunger, the cap closed, and the plunger pulled down and released suddenly, the cap is fired and the flame, issuing through a hole in the side, ignites the match-cord; stamped on cap "Bté., L. & J., S.G.D.G." France. [Ignites using a copper percussion cap which ignites a length of match-cord tinder].
