Match-box (height 4 ins) of lignum vitae, turned; upright, cylindrical, with screw-on embattled lid; on top, a large screw-in bone socket for holding a small candle; probably converted from one of Berry's Instantaneous Light Boxes, of similar design (see nos. 1278-1279); date probably about 1835. England.
