[One only of] Various Boxes (3 x 1/8 x 1 1/2 ins), of thin chip; slide covered with purplish-blue paper; on one side, a strip of sand-paper; exterior covered with plaid paper; on top, bottom, and other side, the Crown on a cushion, with the inscription "Bryant & May's Crown Matches, London. Entered at Stationers' Hall"; each box contains full complement of large, square, impregnated Matches (length 2 5/8 ins), with pinkish heads; introduced 1870; date about 1887.
