Certificate, framed certificate, wood, glass, paper, Carnegie Hero Fund Trust Certificate, awarded by the Carnegie Hero Fund Trust to Harold Gleave, 30 June 1938. Harold Gleave, a porter at Warrington Bank Quay station, was awarded the certificate for saving the life of a 70 year old passenger who had fallen onto the tracks at Warrington Bank Quay Station on 18 April 1938. The passenger fell into the path of a boat train from Holyhead, and Gleave saved him by leaping onto the tracks and rolling him between the rails so the train passed over him, before jumping clear himself. Gleave also received the Edward Medal. The certificate was awarded at a ceremony in Dunfermline and is signed by the Chairman Secretary of the Carnegie Hero Fund Trust.
