This model shows two kinds of hip replacement systems used for different types of patient: a conventional total hip replacement and a hip resurfacing. The resurfacing technique differs from a total hip replacement as it removes less bone and does not need a large metal stem to be placed in the thigh bone. This method is more suitable for younger, more active patients.
