Swatch book of four printed fine filament acetate rayon crepe, dress fabric samples, in four colourways, grey, peach, lilac and brown, Horse Methaemoglobin 8.23, designed by S. M. Slade, from crystallography by Max Perutz, manufactured by British Celanese Ltd, brand name Celanese Fabrics. Part of a collection of 83 samples designed for the 1951 Festival of Britain, based on X-ray crystallographic pattern. In 1951 the fabric sold for 25 shillings per yard. Shown in the FPG display in the Land Travelling Exhibition. Max Perutz's wife Gisela had a dress made from this fabric. The pattern 51
