Hydrogen fuel cell bus

Daimler Chrysler hydrogen fuel cell bus used by London Transport as part of the HyFleet-Clean Urban Transport for Europe bus project, 2001-2006.

One of the three fuel cell buses used in the Clean Urban Transport for Europe (CUTE) trials, 2001-6. The trials involved the testing of 27 Citaro hydrogen fuel cell buses and associated infrastructure in nine European cities, including London. The objective was to ‘demonstrate the feasibility of an innovative, highly energy-efficient, clean urban public transport system’. In 2013 Transport for London were operating their entire RV1 route using hydrogen powered buses and experiencing much improved reliability over the vehicles previously used in the CUTE trials.
