Magic Lantern

Made:
circa 1912 in Edinburgh
maker:
Andrew H Baird

All metal magic lantern house. Originally the light source was presumably a paraffin lamp with three or four wicks but was later converted to accept an electric light source. The lantern takes standard slides of 3 1/4" square inches. A large 4 1/2" condensor mounted before the lamp produced an approximately parallel beam which evenly illuminated the slide. With a brass mounted Dallmeyer No.3 projection lens. In a wooden box. Andrew H. Baird, Scientific Instrument Makers., Edinburgh, c. 1912.
