Full set of Lowenfeld mosaics ('Standard Box'), consisting of 456 tiles in five different geometric shapes and six primary colours, in a hinged green case with two latches. Made in U.K, c.1940-1960. Hinged green case with two latches. This was one of the first versions of the test made with plastic pieces, which Lowenfeld started using after her source of the wooden pieces dried up in WWII; compare 2009-20. The case was divided into two duplicate (symmetrical?) sides -- each side had 4 squares, 6 equilateral triangles, 8 diamonds, 8 isoceles triangles, and 12 scalene triangles. Pieces were to be arranged in a strict color sequence -- white, green, black, yellow, blue, and red -- which had been designed to avoid conventional color patterns like the stripes on a national flag.
