The computer was popular in the UK educational market, and over 1.5 million BBC Micros were sold before it was discontinued in 1994, to be succeeded by the Acorn Archimedes. As well as running educational software, the BBC Micro was also used to play games such as 'Elite' and 'Granny's Garden'.
