Poster, one of two small posters, carrying HIV and AIDS related information, with a photograph of a healthy looking young man and the message 'Before you sleep with someone, look out for the signs of HIV', produced by the Health Education Authority, England, c.1988-1995
A person can carry HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus, for years before symptoms of illness appear. During this time they may look and feel healthy. This poster carries HIV and AIDS-related information. It shows an apparently healthy man with the message: 'Before you sleep with someone, look out for the signs of HIV'.
The poster intended to dispel the then popular myth that individuals who carried the virus would be identifiable by looking ill.
