1940s in Denham
maker:
Acmade Limited

Acmiola 35mm film and sound editing machine, manufactured by Acmade Ltd, about 1925. Editing unit with large microphone, on stand, with two foot pedals, cable with plug.

The Acmiola 35mm film and sound editing machine is a copy of the contemporary American Moviola editing machine. Acmade, based in Slough, began making these in World War II as it was impossible to import the American machines for use in British film studios. Acmade went on to specialise in the design and manufacture of film editing equipment. This machine was used by the editor Richard Bradley and is in excellent condition. The Acmiola was used widely in film cutting rooms in the 1950s/1960s.
