A mannequin's head, used by John Logie Baird (1888-1946) in his colour television experiments in 1943.
During the second world war Baird continued his research into colour television and by 1943 was experimenting with field sequential colour (a system that was launched in the USA seven years later and was used by NASA on the moon). In typical Baird style, he used mannequins for his experiments.
It is first documented in historic images in the early 1950s, appearing in a Rank/Bush/Murphy display alongside an authentic Baird 'Noah's Ark' televisor.
