Thie techology made it easier than ever to capture songs, stories or the latest news as audio recordings that could be sent in the post. In the late 1970's The 3M Wollensak portable cassette recorder was used by volunteers at the Barnet Borough Talking Newspaper to record local news stories onto tape and share them out to people who could not read the printed paper.
