Set top boxes that could work with televisions to receive channels in additional to the standard free-to-air terrestrial broadcasts became increasingly popular throughout the 2000s. Freeview was an digital free-to-air service introduced by a consortium of broadcast companies in 2002. The collection also includes a set top box for receiving programmes from cable television provider Telewest and a satellite television receiver.
