Pace model DSL4000 IPTV set-top box, with remote control, manufactured by Pace plc, British, 2001.

Set top boxes that could work with televisions to receive channels in additional to the standard free-to-air terrestrial broadcasts became increasingly popular throughout the 2000s.

The Pace DSL4000 set top box was launched in 1999, it is an IPTV home gateway that can deliver video over IP ( e.g. PPV, broadcast TV, VoD movies) as well as internet services, suchas as web browsing, email, chat and gaming.

The DSL4000 is based on the Acorn A5000 computer with MPEG-2 decoding hardware from ST Micro. Pace acquired from Acorn/Element14 and is based on a Cirrus Logic CL7500FE SOC with 16MB DRAM.
