Manuscript of an unpublished biography of William Friese-Greene by Winton Johnson.

This is a manuscript written by Winton Johnson, husband of the late Maisie Vinten who had undertaken much of the early research for it while she was Chairman of the cinematographic engineering company of W Vinten Ltd. Vintens had a close professional relationship with Claude Friese Greene, William's son, and through research into the company's history, Johnson was struck by the apparent lack of recognition given to Friese Greene for his achievement of making 'the first successful camera to take moving pictures'.
