Pace Sky+ HD satellite receiver, manufactured for Pace plc, Europe, 2008. It includes Sky+ functionality and a built in HD video recorder.

The introduction of digital television and video technologies made it possible for high definition (HD) footage to be transmitted to television viewers. Satellite broadcaster Sky introduced set top boxes that could receive HD channels in 2006. This box could also record and pause live television using the built-in HD video recorder, known as a Personal Video Recorder, or PVR.
