A photograph of the Cheltenham Torso Murder Mystery, taken in February 1938 by George W Roper for the Daily Herald.

The photograph shows evidence being collected from the scene of the crime as samples of blood are scraped off the edge of Haw Bridge. On 3 February 1938, H C Price found bloodstains, and three salmon fishermen discovered a human torso in the River Severn, near Haw Bridge, Tewkesbury. The discovery led to a murder investigation which remains unsolved.
