John Christie, from Halifax, was a murderer active in the 1940 and 1950s, when he killed seven women by strangling them at his home 10 Rillington Place, Notting Hill, London. Christie is shown here in the uniform of Special Constable; he was a member of the force from 1939 to 1943.
