Brass binocular microscope, no. 4351, with triangular adjustable stand by Smith, Beck & Beck, London, England, 1857-1864. Fitted wtih 1 1/2-inch objective lens by Ross, London. Used on the 'Challenger' oceanographic expedition. also 2/3in. objective by R.& J. Beck, each in brass case, 1 objective by Ross (1 1/2"), 2 eyepieces [2 single eyelenses, 1 compound eyepieces] (1 lens cracked) with box, probably do not belong to this instrument.
