Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904) was commissioned by the 'New York Herald' to find the explorer Dr David Livingstone (1813-1873) who was lost in Africa. Later, Stanley's account of his arduous journey, 'How I Found Livingstone' (1872), became a bestseller.
