An autochrome photograph of a girl stood next to a rambling rose, taken by Etheldreda Janet Laing, c. 1910.
The girl, probably one of Laing's daughters, wears a pink headscarf. Laing regularly photographed her daughters in the ground of their home, Bury Knowle House in Oxfordshire. The autochrome process was the first really practicable and commercially successful process for colour photography.
