An autochrome photograph of a girl sat next to a flower bed, taken by Janet Etheldreda Laing, c. 1910.
The girl, probably one of Laing's daughters, sits on the grass looking down at her hat. Laing regularly photographed her daughters in the ground of their home, Bury Knowle House in Oxfordshire. The autochrome process was the first really practicable and commercially successful process for colour photography.
