The Staff Investigation Committee, known as the "Razor Gang", studied stations in the Rugby, Crewe and Birmingham districts with a view to cutting station and yard staff as part of an economy drive. The reports detailed station staff, facilities, operations, traffic and working arrangements, and the recommendations of the committee as to where economies could be made. They were submitted to the District Operating Superintendent. The reports are for the following stations: Longbridge (Jan. 1961); Walsall (Jun. 1961); Wolverhampton High Level (Jul. 1961); Whitchurch (Jul. 1961); Whitacre (Jul.-Aug. 1961); Nuneaton Abbey Street and Stockingford (Aug. 1961); Dudley Port (Sep. 1961); Rugby Midland (Oct. 1961); Kings Norton (Nov. 1961); Nuneaton (Trent Valley) (Feb. 1962). Some of the reports have copy letters and follow-up recommendations inserted.
