This particular test, No. 5, assessed people’s ability to perform light clerical work. It was organized into six untimed exercises, lasting approximately 40 minutes total. Three exercises simulated sorting mail, alphabetical filing, and telephone answering, and three simulated bookkeeping tasks such as calculator use and accurate recording. Good performance depended on verbal and numerical aptitude, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. Additionally, the test allowed the observer to assess secondary, work-related characteristics such as the ability to follow instructions, concentration, communication skills, decision-making, and self-confidence.
