Gelatine silver print entitled 'Abandoned Millstone, Addingham Moorside, Wharfdale' by Ian Beesley. Prodiced for the commission `Through the Mill:, The Story of Yorkshire Wool in Photographs'. 1985-1987'.
This is one of several millstones littered around the moor in this area. They were originally intended as part of the machinery of local corn mills, the buildings of which were initially adapted tot he large scale production of wool textile. Hence, the early association of the word 'mill' which the making of cloth.
