Oramics machine; Components and Accessories
Components and accessories from the Oramics machine, 1966, used to create electronic synthesized music and developed by Daphne Oram, co-founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Daphne Oram was co-founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in 1958. In the Oramics machine, both the sound generation and control over the musical parameters was achieved by making marks on transparent media: for generation by painting waveforms onto glass slides, and in control by marking 10 parallel 35mm filmstrips.
